Eugene is fortunate to have an active literary community. This page is a resource page for anyone who is interested in knowing about groups of writers that meet for manuscript critique or other forms of mutual support. Members of some of these groups are available for school visits, for interviews, or as speakers.
While some groups on this page may be seeking new members, note that many are closed groups and are not open to visitors or new members. Whatever the stated policy of a group, it is generally not a good idea to just drop in on one of these groups without contacting a group representative first.

The soon to be published, Writers Can Be Deadly, may come in handy for your organization.
This crisply written murder mystery takes place at a writers conference on the Oregon Coast

discusses many aspects of the writing process in a serious fashion.
Should your group be interested, discounts will be given for multiple copies ordered.
(The book will be 180 pages in length; projected cost $14.95)
(The author has a Bachelor of Science with minor in English from the US Air Force Academy, A Masters
in English from The University of Denver, and has taught composition and writing for The US Office of
Personnel Management and a college in the Midwest. )

The information regarding a “new writer’s group” focusing on non-fiction is a decade old. The group started, then disbanded a year or two later. Please disregard this posting. I’d contact the Webmaster to ask for this paragraph to be removed – but this comment box appears to be the only way to communicate regarding this matter. Barbara Allen
