More than half of Americans aged 18 and above are playing video games, and that two out of ten play almost everyday, according to a survey.

Pew Internet & American Life Project, a Washington-based research group which focuses on the impact of Internet to society, revealed that 53 percent of Americans belonging from the age group 18 years and older play videogames.

The study defined videogame as anything to be played online, regardless of the gaming devices the surveyed individuals used including gaming console, portable game device, laptop, desktop, mobile phone, and organizer,

With this result, the group stated that the number of percentage dropped as the aged increased.

Meanwhile, among those surveyed, almost 20 percent admitted to be game addicts or those who play everyday.

According to the result, men are more likely to play video games than women, with a 5 percent gap between the two gender groups, revealing that fifty percent of males play videogames compared to 50 percent females.

Another surprising discovery by Pew is that educational background is link to the percentage of videogamers.  According to the survey, 57 percent of gamers have finished or at least reached college level, 51 percent of surveyed have finished high school, and 40 percent of gamers have only finished elementary level.  While the gap is not extensive, there is a consistency with the trend.
