Popular microblogging site Twitter on Monday said that it is planning to create its own television series and share this to millions of users worldwide.
Twitter officials said they have signed a partnership deal with producers Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Reveille Productions to create unscripted television show which can be accessed by users from different countries.
This new venture is expected to provide more interactive experience to users since celebrities and fans can have more intimate communication which has never been achieved before.
Meanwhile, the micro-blogging site and its partners are expecting that this plan will generate more revenue and attract more advertisers and users alike.
In a statement, Howard T. Owens, Reveille managing director, said that Twitter has a potential in the television business because of its unprecedented popularity among web-centric users.
During the Reuters Global Technology Summit few days ago, Twitter Co-founder Biz Stone announced their plan to adopt new strategies to generate more revenue.
Stone said they are more interested in generating money through offering paid premium features for their commercial users than focusing on advertising strategies.
Experts said popular social networking like Twitter should continue to expand its network to prevent stagnant growth and slumping revenue, adding that any effort that aims to generate profit should be carefully considered.
According to a report, Twitter has attracted more than 17 million unique visitors in the US in April, compared to 9.3 million in March.
It has also been estimated that the social site boasts 200 million active users in April compared to 100 million users.
Another survey also revealed that an average Twitter user will visit the site 1.4 times every day and spends approximately 18 minutes per month.
