Search Engine Charges Google of Violating Antitrust Law

Internet search engine TradeComet.com charged Google with violation of antitrust law, according to a report by AFP.

TradeComet.com filed the case before the New York District course against the Internet giant, accusing the latter of violating the antitrust law as it employs multiple strategies to eliminate its market competition.

According to TradeComet spokesman, Google is using various anticompetitive strategies which have already eliminated the small Internet company.

The spokesman also said that for the first few months of TradeComet, which was built in September 2005, was a thriving online firm as it generated more than 650,000 unique visitors everyday, adding that its company’s main goal is to provide other alternatives besides from major search engines tools especially Google.

Meanwhile, as the Internet giant identified that the small firm was a threat to its growing popularity, TradeComet said that Google immediately employed illicit marketing strategies to eliminate its competition.

TradeComet even got to a point that it accused Google of being involved in the manipulation of the advertising rates, which resulted to TradeComet’s meltdown.

In an interview, TradeComet founder and CEO Dan Savage said that Google raised the advertising rates by almost 10,000 percent which had resulted to the company’s collapse in a very short period of time.

Savage also said that he believes that the case has its own merit since the accusation is a serious incident of violation of the antitrust law.

For the past few years, there are numerous Internet companies which filed cases against Google with various accusations.

When asked for opinion, Google said that it has not yet reviewed the charges against them.
