World’s top software manufacturer Microsoft Corp. said that it is set to launch the new and full version of the antivirus computer software called Security Essentials on Tuesday, to help users shield their PCs from malwares.
In a statement, Microsoft executives said that users can start downloading the free version of the Security Essentials next Tuesday.
The company has earlier launched the said software in beta version to temporarily protect customers from constant threat of malicious software and other worms that were sent through e-mails.
According to the software giant, the best feature about the Security Essentials is its daily updates to stop any threat coming from dangerous programs in the Internet.
Most of these malwares are designed to embed itself to the users’ computers then steal important information about the owners.
Also, the new version of the security program has minimum disk space consumption and will not make the users’ PC run slower, like what most anti-virus software in the market do.
Microsoft said that it has no intention to compete with mainstream anti-virus manufacturers like Symantec Corp. and McAfee Inc., which dominated the market for several years now.
The software makers said that these two companies have already perfected the art of protecting computers, which is hard to go head on.
McAfee and Symantec, according to Microsoft, have also a wider range of features available in its anti-virus programs.
The main target of Microsoft was users who no longer have license to run their anti-virus program, saying that the new Security Essentials will soon be an option to people who can’t afford to renew security license immediately.
Based on a study, millions of computers are being attacked by these so-called worms and other viruses every time users go online or surf reported attack sites.
The reason why their computers get infected is lack of protection. But with the new Microsoft Security Essentials, the software giant hope to limit the number of attacks into isolated cases.
