Microsoft Releases Windows 7 OS to PC Makers

World’s biggest software manufacturer Microsoft Corp. has released on Thursday the latest version of its Windows Operating System to computer manufacturers worldwide to allow a two month adjustment period before its official debut on October 22.

In a statement posted in the official website of the company, Microsoft Windows 7 Team Leader Brandon LeBlanc said that the delivery was made two months earlier than its official release to give computer makers more time to integrate the software into computers and other high-end devices.

The release to manufacturers or RTM is necessary to know how the new software will match up with the hardware.

LeBlanc revealed that some 7600 RTM have already passed validation checks and are set to be delivered all over the world.

“The latest Windows 7 OS has passed a set of quality tests and several testing from our partners and users before acquiring its validation permit to be released to the hardware developers,” the official said in the statement.

The new Windows 7 focuses on applications and design that users really want. Microsoft has gathered information they need from users and combined those to build the features of the new software.

LeBlanc said that the best quality of Windows 7 is its versatility, which allows even lower-end computer devices to run with the system. “Users can operate their gadgets, from netbooks to high-end gaming devices, under the Windows 7 OS,” Leblanc added.

Microsoft expects the completion of the Windows 7 code delivery before next week.

Microsoft also said that their voluntary testing program was participated by more than 10 million users.

The company said that majority of the users expressed confidence that the release of Windows 7 will give a solid jump start for the company.

The software giant has announced its free upgrades last June to buyers of new computers. It also said that it will continue to offer this free upgrade for customers who will buy Vista-based PCs or laptops until the release date.
