World’s largest software manufacturer Microsoft Corp. on Friday expressed strong belief that PC sales around the world will soon catch up with the growing economy following the launch of the new Windows 7 Operating System, which was tagged as its “most important” release in past ten years.
Microsoft is now vying for a larger share in the PC market after the launch of its new Windows 7, an upgraded and more efficient version of the Vista application.
Recently, Apple Inc and Google Inc have made a strong push to slash several portion of the pie out of Microsoft, which currently holds more than 90 percent of OS in personal computers around the world.
“Microsoft has to keep the momentum going their way if they want to meet the expectations,” said Michael Gartenberg, who was a long time analyst of Microsoft for the research firm Interpret.
After Vista, Microsoft hopes to take back its reputation, which was lost during the span three years, with the launching of the new Windows 7. The Vista OS was a disappointing business move for Microsoft after low acceptance rating from its clients.
According to Microsoft, the new Windows 7 OS is much faster; less cluttered, and hosts touch-screen features for other computer designs. Company executives said that the wide range of features will make Windows more viable to other devices like ultra-slim laptops with large touch-screen interface.
It can also be loaded into Amazon’s Kindle e-book readers for a faster and more reliable live-streaming.
Based on reports, Microsoft is offering its new OS for only $199.99 for the Home Premium version and $119.99 for upgrades from the older version.
With the holiday season just around the corner, Microsoft said that sales of PC and its Windows 7 OS will further increase, adding that technology innovations will lead the economy back to its original form.
