The John Lewis Partnership is one of the leading dealers in the United Kingdom, the John Lewis department stores, Waitrose supermarkets and direct services company Greenbee. In exceptional cases, it is a public company with limited liability, the trustee on behalf of all employees (called partners) – that would have a say in the management of the company and receive an annual profit distribution, which is usually an important supplement to their annual salary. The nature of the company is cooperative. The company is the 3rd largest in the United Kingdom private company in the “Sunday Times” Top Track 100 for 2008. The chain is the image of upscale, and asked them to a solid middle class base of customers. But John Lewis have recently been marketing for all types of buyers, with the introduction of sufficient quality, and the expansion of the company.
The partnership is an investor in the supermarket Ocado web, the private label Waitrose food, John Lewis and his own brand of non-food items.
Department Stores
In January 2007, the John Lewis division operates 26 full-line Store and boutique Web. The shops are in a mixture of city and regional shopping center locations. They are usually the largest or second largest store in their local market. The flagship store on Oxford Street in London remains the largest John Lewis outlet in the United Kingdom. And the John Lewis Partnership department stores and operates five Waitrose Food & Home stores the combination of the group Waitrose supermarkets with some of John Lewis chain of non-food sector.
Supermarkets
John Lewis Partnership owns Waitrose, a supermarket chain, which has offices upscale 192 (August 2008) and 35,573 (summer 2006) partner. Waitrose trades mainly in London and southern England, and was originally written by Wallace Waite, Arthur Rose and David Taylor. The company was founded by the John Lewis Partnership in 1937. The acquisition of 19 Safeway branches in 2004 greatly increased the size of the company and has offices in the north of England for the first time. A further six stores were Morrison in autumn 2005 and again in March contributed to the hitherto unexplored areas. Then, in March 2006, Waitrose announced the acquisition of five Somerfield stores, with the first two stores in Scotland, both in the capital Edinburgh. In July 2006, Waitrose announced the purchase of six new stores and a distribution center of Morrison. In 2007, the first built to that end a Waitrose supermarket in northern England was in Cheadle Hulme, Greater Manchester.
Because of this and many more strong points, it is already proven that John Lewis is a top retailer in England.
