Despite being labeled as a “violent” video game, Apple Inc, maker of the popular Smartphone iPhone, has approved the launch of the new Grand Theft Auto franchise in its App store this coming fall.
Rockstar Games, maker of the popular blockbuster video game franchise Grand Theft Auto, on Monday announced that it will be coming out with the latest version of the bloody and gore video for the popular iPhone and iPod Touch.
The video gaming giant, likewise, said that it will be launching its Beaterator simultaneously to all Apple devices.
In an interview, Rockstar founder Sam Houser said that the latest version of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will be the perfect match for the Apple devices, specially the iPhone and iPod Touch.
“This is so far the biggest and most ambitious version of Liberty City and we are very excited this coming fall as we are set to launch the game with a high-level of detail and immersive gaming experience into the iPhone,” he said.
Houser said that the latest Grand Theft Auto installation would follow the story of Huang Lee, who is a young and ambitious Triad. He travels to Liberty City, which signals the start of game play, following the mysterious death of his father.
According to Houser, players will have to work their way in the streets of Chinatown and other areas of the city to slowly uncover the truth behind the death of Lee’s father.
Players will also be treated to the underground world of the Triads were crime and corruption rules, which according to Houser, would be a trademark of all the Grand Theft Auto franchise.
The first launching of the video game to a handheld device was with Nintendo DS and will soon be available for Sony PlayStation Portable in fall 2009.
But with the iPhone version of the game soon to be launched, both Nintendo and Sony are now making necessary adjustments in order for them to keep up with the App users.
