Google Unveils New Nexus One Smartphone, the Next iPhone Killer

Online giant Google Inc on Tuesday revealed its new Smartphone called the Nexus One, which will direct challenge market’s the current number one: Apple Inc.’s iPhone.

The new Nexus One is considered by many as the “super phone” or the iPhone killer.

Collaborating with Taiwan’s HTC, Google was able to create the new mobile phone, which is regarded as the next step in the long evolution of mobile phones. The Nexus One’s Android software is the best of its class today.

In an interview, HTC chief executive Peter Chou said that the new Smartphone will push the limit of what Smartphones can do. He added that the possibility with the new Android software will take users to place that they have never been before, adding that even iPhone can not match its capabilities.

With its touch-screen interface and thin frame, the Nexus One gives users a good feeling when using it. Even in long hours of browsing the Internet, the new Smartphone does not give the stress feeling in the hands, Chou said.

According to HTC, the new handset is now thicker than a pencil and is now heavier than a regular Swiss Army knife keychain.

Google Engineer Erick Tseng also demonstrated one of the Smartphones to a live audience, liking the design as a “marriage of function and form.”

Tseng said that the new Nexus One runs on the same Android 2.1 technology that also runs the popular Droid Smartphones, which hosts a remarkable 3-D graphics and other innovations never seen before.

It also has a speech command feature that allows user to search text messages, e-mails, and phonebooks using their voice command.

It also has a built-in global positioning system that speaks direct to the users on what directions they should take. The new Google mapping programs, according to Tseng, has allowed the phone to run programs such as this to make life more comfortable to the users.
