The world’s most popular Internet search engine Google.com has got a new facelift as the company introduced a much bigger search box on its home page (http://www.google.com).
Google Inc., which is based in Mountain View, California, said that it has decided to remove the cluttered look of the search engine’s homepage following complaints and suggestions from millions of users.
Now, Google.com was fitted with a bigger search box to allow users to see what they are typing.
“We have decided to make adjustments on our search box. As you can see the box has grown in size, which is important, allowing you to see text as you type the keywords that you want to search in a clearer and more civilized manner,” Google Vice President Marissa Mayer said in her blog post.
Mayer, in her post, added that the bigger search box can empower not only the Internet giant but also the online users.
She added that the bigger search box was, again, the company pioneering move, pointing that the company, as always, has been the first and foremost when it comes to search engines.
“Google Inc. is committed in bring the best experience to the online users by building and powering the best search engine in the Internet,” she added.
To date, the company remains the most dominant search engine provider in the world with more than 65 percent of total market share in advertising flowing to the company’s cash drawers.
Online tracking firm comScore said that it is necessary for Google to innovate in its search engines following the signing of the deal between Yahoo Inc. and Microsoft Corp., which is aimed to take on the number one website head-on.
However, many experts said that only time will tell if the online audience will like the new facelift on Google’s search engine homepage, which also host a new font format and size.
