Currys is a retailer of electricity in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, and is owned by DSG International plc. It specializes in home electronics and appliances, with 295 superstores in 73 high street stores. Its annual sales in 2003/04 was £ 1752 million and 1852 million pounds in 2004/05.
At the moment, the store that has the highest turnover is in Fosse Park, Leicester, with an annual turnover of about £ 30 million.
In April 2006, it was announced that Dixons stores (except in Ireland) is rebranded as “Currys.digital”, which represents a total of 550 stores. The stores were later renamed Currys.digital as an extension of Currys (also part of the Group of outlets) to allow Dixons to liberate themselves from the street. The rebranded Currys.digital markets itself as a specialist in the division aimed at Currys technology focused on consumers with ranges of products such as cameras, personal computers, audio and video equipment – such as Dixons had in the past – and offers A range of large and small appliances than traditional shops Currys.
