Popular iPhone maker Apple Inc. over the weekend started its probe over increasing reports of defective batteries in its iPhone 3GS.
Apple earlier bragged that the new iPhone 3GS has come with a variety of features and software updates that would maximize that use of the device.
However, Apple did not prepare itself to the growing problem of defective batteries in the popular Smartphone. Users of the iPhone are now flooding forums started by Apple in the Internet.
Most of the complaints came after users updated their device to the 3.1 software version which then led to extensive battery drain.
Since the forum started, some 385 replies have already been posted in the forums with users complaining of short battery life.
Meanwhile, Apple Inc. on Friday announced that their AppleCare helpdesk have already started contacting users from the forum, which will be then used in its investigation.
The complainants, according to Apple helpdesk representatives, were asked with 11 questions that focus on the extensive battery drain.
Also, the iPhone maker asked users to download a battery life logger in order for them to personally monitor the Smartphone’s energy level. The collected information can also be sent to the users’ iTunes accounts, which will then be collected by Apple and be used in its probe.
In most cases sending an email, Bluetooth, Applications, and Wi-Fi can really deteriorate the phone’s battery. But customer representatives said that users can restore the significant energy drain in their batteries by simply hooking up in iTunes.
But many of the complainants said that the suggestions given to them were not effective at all, or in most cases, do not work for them.
A restoration of the previous software does not work also.
Meanwhile, Apple said that they will soon come up with a permanent solution to the problem pending the result of their investigation.
