Amazon.com Inc., the world’s leading e-commerce company, has recently launched its newest website called WindowShop which will actually serve as a storefront of the cool electronic shop.
The WindowShop will display the latest and newest products of the e-commerce company. The site will offer a wide array of consumer products which include video games, books and novels, electronic gadgets, video games, etc.
The main feature of the site is its large tiles which display products in random selection. Visitors can simply press the right and left arrow to browse all the products displayed, all of which have been categorized with its respective classification (e.g. movies, books, music, artists, etc.).
Meanwhile, this feature may prove to be of disadvantage for some people, especially those who have no time to browse through all the items since there is no search box where site visitors can simply type in the name of the product they are looking for. And since this will site only provides random selection of goods, perhaps compulsive buyers will be the one to enjoy this service more.
While randomly displaying each product will make online shopping for some people quite fun, buyers who need to immediately see the goods they will purchase possible may find this service quite frustrating.
Perhaps the main flaw of this website is its lack of navigation tools and more effective categories and selections—which seems to be the main feature Amazon.com wants to provide to their customers (especially those people who are terribly compulsive buyers).
According to the latest survey, Amazon.com attracts over 615 million visitors which are twice as much compared to Walmart.com. This electronic store has also dethroned eBay from its number one position.
